Sunday Fun
We are now taking registration for our Sunday Events. There are two options:
Walk the ‘Hood, 10:15 am – noon. Join us for a fascinating walk through the historic Fernwood Neighbourhood surrounding Vic High. Fellow Grad and Author Linda Foubister will be our guide. The tour will feature over twenty homes, including houses that were moved to allow for the construction of Victoria High, which was built on the site of some of the largest sand quarries in the area. You will hear the stories of Fernwood’s early residents, including their links to the Riel Rebellion, the Spanish influenza and the two World Wars. We guarantee you’ll never look at the old neighbourhood the same way again! There is no charge for this event. Meet at the front entrance of the school at 10:00 am. After the walk, there will be a no-host brunch at the Canoe Brew Pub Marina & Restaurant. Limited to 15 people. Register with Linda at lfoubister@shaw.ca.
Kayak with Brian Henry – Ocean River Sports. Meet at Ocean River Sports at 9:00 am and by 9:30 you’ll be enjoying the stillness and quiet of the harbour waters. Check out the Victoria Harbour Tour, a 2 ½ hour kayak trip at www.oceanriver.com . Then call toll free, 1-800-909-4233 or 250-381-4233 to register. Advise that you are a Vic High Grad, registering for the May 30, 9:30 a.m., Victoria Harbour Tour. Cost is $25 (a regular value of $65) Limit of 24 people. Afterwards....meet with the “Hood Walking Group” at the Canoe Brew Pub Marina & Restaurant for the no-host brunch. |
